1891 Run for Fredonia Opera House takes place in late April | News, Sports, Jobs
Registration for the 1891 Annual Run for the Fredonia Opera House is now open. The race is a 5K Run and Walk fundraiser for the Opera. It will be Sunday, April 24 at 9 a.m. After taking place as virtual and hybrid races for the past two years due to COVID, this year’s race will be a live, in-person race.
The race begins and ends at Barker Common in downtown Fredonia. Except for a small incline at the start of the run, this is a flat, fast USATF certified course (#NY17080JG). It includes segments of Temple Street, Central Avenue, and Brigham Road, as well as part of Ring Road on the State University of New York campus at Fredonia.
Riders will follow a lead car provided by the Fredonia Village Police Department. Walkers will have to complete the entire route on the sidewalk.
Medals are awarded to the first three men and women in each age group and to the first three men and women in the general classification. T-shirts are guaranteed to those who register before April 11. Raffles and prizes are also part of the event.
Pre-registration for the race is $25 for adults and $15 for students (21 and under). Race day registration is $30 for adults and $15 for students (21 and under).
