A stargazing party is taking place in the Al Qudra desert this weekend

Fancy an evening under the stars?

If you need a break from the busy city and skylines this weekend, head to this evening stargazing hosted by Dubai Astronomy Group on Saturday, March 19.

The four-hour event begins at 7:15 p.m. and takes place under the stars in the peaceful Al Qudra desert. Don’t worry, you won’t need a 4X4 to get there, although it is recommended. The exact location will be emailed to you after registration.

Tickets for adults (over the age of 13) will cost 130 Dhs and for children it is 80 Dhs. Please note that children under 15 must be accompanied by a parent with a ticket. Pets are not allowed at the event.

So what happens during the event?

After your arrival there will be an introduction followed by an Arabic astronomy/sky mapping session. The Dubai Astronomy Group team will also host a Q&A session where you can clarify your doubts.

After that, you can observe the vast night sky through the telescope throughout the evening and take photos of celestial objects through the telescope. In addition, you can participate in an astrophotography session.

Remember that the temperatures are dropping this week and it will be cooler in the desert than in the city, so you are advised to dress warmly and bring blankets.

Mats (feel free to bring your own) and water will be provided, but bring your own food and snacks. You can also carry a tent which you can set up in a designated spot, but note that you cannot set up a barbecue.

Pack your masks and bring your Emirates ID, and have your tickets on your phone.

You can find out more and register here. For more information, call the team on 04 221 6603.
