East-West will take place on January 4 | Basketball
Red Sox-Yankees. Duc-UNC. Michigan-Ohio State. These are some of the fiercest rivalries in all of sports. For the people of Waterloo, Iowa, you can go ahead and put Waterloo East-Waterloo West right there with them.
The two Waterloo schools have a long and rich tradition of global excellence. They have also had an intense rivalry in athletics for decades. Whenever the two schools meet in sport it is always expected to be a great performance.
The next girls ‘and boys’ basketball games will be no different.
The date has been set for the East-West game and that date is January 4th. It will be the first game after the break for both schools and will take place in the East.
The girls’ match will first start at 6 p.m.
The West Girls are currently ranked No.3 in 5A with a 7-1 record with their only loss at No.2 at City High. The crazy thing is that their two best players are both juniors. Sahara Williams (20.7 points, four assists, seven rebounds and four steals per game) and Halli Poock (20.3 points per game, 5.6 points per game, 4.7 points per game) have been outstanding this season .
Est is 2-6 overall and 0-4 in conference. Brooklyn Love led the way for the Trojans at 13.3 points per game, 9.9 rpg and an incredible seven blocks per game.
The boys ‘game will start after the girls’ game ends. This match is expected to start no later than 7.45 a.m.
For the Wahawks, it was a two-season story at the start. Having started the year 3-0 and ranked in the top 10 in 4A, they have lost three straight games and are at .500 this year. It is a young group this season which is currently led by Si’Marion Anderson (22.4 points per game).
The Trojans, meanwhile, are still chasing their first win of the season, even though they have improved. Three of their losses came from just nine points. Martez Wiggley leads the way with 14.3 points per game.
