No test at the checkpoint could be a source of problems, fear the residents of Maulinguem | Goa News

Bicholim: After authorities began to conduct antigen testing for visitors at the Goa-Dodamarg checkpoint in Bicholim taluka, many people from neighboring areas of Maharashtra, especially those using two-wheelers, began to enter the state via Maulinguem, where no testing is carried out. .
Many people from neighboring villages in Sindhudurg district in Maharashtra come to Goa in search of work or business. When someone enters the Goa border via Bicholim taluka, it is mandatory to have a negative Covid certificate or to undergo a rapid antigen test at the border.
However, residents of Maulinguem and surrounding areas said that since most of the residents of neighboring Sindhudurg villages are aware of the Maulinguem road, they use this road to avoid police and testing. It is estimated that around 300 people enter Goa via Maulinguem.
Locals said there are many other “hidden roads” through which to enter Goa from Maharashtra and people enter through villages such as Matne, Ambadgao, Vazri, Aai and Talekhol. The only checkpoint encountered on this road is that of Maulinguem. People also use a track adjacent to the Tillari Canal via Kharpal.
Residents fear the Covid situation could deteriorate again if people entering the state through this route are not tested. They alerted the administration to look into the matter.
